Lower School Curriculum Night
We hope you'll join us at 6:30 on Thursday, August 28th for Lower School Curriculum Night. Grade level presentations will be taking place in the classrooms and in the first, second, and third floor commons.  We look forward to visiting with you and filling you in on all the fun and learning that is in store for your child this year.

Celebration of New Ministry
We hope you will be able to attend the Installation Service for Andrew Myler. This special service, for the adult community of St. Paul’s, will be on Tuesday, September 2 at 7:00pm at the church. A reception will immediately follow in the ECC Commons (north building of the school). This worship service will formally welcome Andrew into our community at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Day School, and into his position as Head of School.  A condensed version of this service will be presented at All School Chapel on Friday, September 5 for the student body.

Speech, Hearing, & Fine/Gross Motor Screenings
Speech /language/hearing screenings will be offered on September 8th and 9th for children in Toddler through 3rd grades.  A permission form will be available on our website  for you to print, complete, and return with payment by August 29th.  Older children may be screened if you have concerns. Please contact Celeste Haas, speech pathologist if you have questions at 816-932-6924 or chaas2@saint-lukes.org .  Fine and Gross motor screenings will be offered on September 10th and 11th for children  in Toddler through 5th grade.  These screenings are provided by referral only.   So if you receive a special permission form in your child’s backpack, this suggests that their teacher may have a concern and is requesting a screening.  You should complete and return the form to your teacher with payment.  You may also contact Teri Tankel, occupational therapist if you have questions at 816-932-6927 or ttankel@saint-lukes.org .   Please remember that these are screenings only and will provide helpful information about your child’s development.  Depending on the results of the screenings, there may be no recommendations at all OR there may be recommendations for additional testing, re-screening at a later date, or home practice suggestions.

Family Fun Fest
Family Fun Fest will be Friday, September 5th from 3:45- 6:30 PM.  We hope you'll join us on the field for lots of carnival games, refreshments, and a good time!  This year you'll be able to avoid the long line for tickets since we'll be using a wrist band approach.  Each family is asked to make a donation with $25 being the suggested recommendation.  We hope to see you and your children there.

School Pictures
More information will be coming soon.

Pet Blessing
We will be celebrating St. Francis of Assisi as we celebrate our love for God's creatures.  For this special chapel, we will convene on the field at 8:30 on Friday, September 19th.  Parents of students in Kindergarten through second grade are invited to join us and to bring along a family pet or two.  Students younger than Kindergarten are invited to bring a stuffed animal to the chapel service, and students in third through eighth grade are asked to not bring pets so that this event is manageableThank you for your cooperation and patience, both now and during the service, as we work to continue this loved St. Paul's tradition.

Reach Out and Dance Program (AKA ROAD)
With much thanks to the Parents' Guild, we will once again be able to offer the ROAD program to our fourth grade students.  ROAD is a program that is conducted by the Kansas City Ballet that includes a weekly, one hour session where students participate in games and lively dancing while practicing the St. Paul's Life Skills, their listening and thinking skills, and connecting the fourth grade curriculum to movement and song.  We are so thrilled that we can provide this opportunity for our students!

Welcome New Families!
We are so excited that you've joined the St. Paul's community!  Please feel free to download the PowerPoint that was presented at New Parent Orientation.  Hopefully this will provide a quick summary of important dates and events.  We look forward to working with you and your children this year.
