Much to Celebrate This Second Week of December

What fabulous Christmas programs we had this past week!  Thursday morning we were able to watch our first and second graders shine as they shared their love of music and dance with us while singing along to "Hip Hop Reindeer," "Don't Eat a Poinsettia," and many more carols, and then Thursday evening we had the pleasure of hearing our third through fifth graders share their talents as they sang and played instruments to Christmas carols from around the world.  Many, many thanks to Missy Haskamp, Megan Helm, Tamara Everly, and all of the teachers for their hard work to help the students prepare for these beautiful performances.  What a way to begin the holiday season!

Our second grade students did a fantastic job singing for the guests at the St. Paul's Friday Guild Luncheon this past Friday.  Thank you to Mr. Ronan and all of our second graders for providing the entertainment for this special church occasion.

December Advent Celebrations
Lower School Service Project
Beginning Monday, December 9 and going through Monday, December 16 Lower School students may bring in small, stocking stuffer items to place under the Christmas trees in the first and second floor commons.  On December 17 these items will be taken to Parish Hall so that families who receive assistance from the St. Paul's food pantry will be able to pick up a few items to give their children Christmas morning.  We know that many families contributed to the St. Paul's food drive just a few weeks ago and that, in general, this is a time when lots of organizations are asking for donations so please know there is no expectation for participation.  However, we did want to provide this opportunity in case families were interested in giving to a great cause.  Please see the flyer for more information.

Musical Offerings on the Second Floor
Beginning on Wednesday, December 4 and going through Thursday, December 19 we will end our chapel services with musical offerings provided by our third through fifth grade students. Any student who wishes to share a musical piece may sign up with Mrs. Jones. Students are welcome to sing or play an instrument, and all ability levels are welcome. We look forward to celebrating this special time of year and enjoying the musical offerings our students share.

Second Floor Family Christmas Tree
Students on the second floor are welcome to bring in a family picture to hang on our Christmas tree. Students will hang their ornaments at the end of chapel and will also be able to make a wish as they hang their ornament. We will hang ornaments Monday through Thursday until Thursday, December 19.

Third through Fifth Grade Ice Skating Field Trip
On Friday, December 20, third through fifth grade students will be able to enjoy ice skating with their classmates during our field trip to Line Creek.  Students are welcome to bring their own skates if they wish, but ice skates will also be provided.  Students may also bring $5 or less to spend at the snack bar while we ice skate.  We will leave right after Eucharist Chapel and will return at approximately 12.  Parents are welcome to meet us at Line Creek and skate with their child.  The cost per adult, including skate rental, is $3.

Class Christmas Parties
The students are very much looking forward to their class Christmas parties on Friday, December 20.  First and second grades will have their parties from 2-3 and third through fifth grades will have their parties from 2:30-3:15.  Thank you to the room parents and all of the parents who help make these parties so memorable!

In Harmony Performances
We have a wonderful group of about sixty students who have been enthusiastically participating in our In Harmony choir rehearsals every Monday morning at 7:15! Under the direction of Tamara Everly and Maria Meli, these students are working hard to learn and perform numerous Christmas songs. They will share their talent and hard work with our school community at all school chapel on Friday, December 13. On Monday, December 16, the students will sing at two divisional chapels and then perform at three local assisted living facilities. They will leave campus at 9:15 and return at 11:30 after singing at Bishop Spencer Place, Brighton Gardens, and Clarridge Court. Much thanks to Tamara Everly and Maria Meli for providing these wonderful opportunity for our students. If your child elected not to participate this fall, he or she is welcome to join In Harmony in January when our new Spring choir will begin.
