The Advent Season

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break filled with delicious food and lots of quality family time.

Thank you to several of our fourth and seventh grade families who volunteered at Youthfront's Something to Eat Ministry and packaged over 5,000 meals for families affected by the typhoon in the Philliippines.  Your time and commitment to serving others will make a big difference to those affected by this disaster.  If you would like to read more about this service project see the article that was published in the Saturday edition of the Kansas City Star.

December Advent Celebrations
Christmas Programs
Our Lower School students will be sharing their musical talent and hard work with us as we celebrate the Christmas season this Thursday, December 5.  Our first and second grade students, under the direction of Megan Helm, will perform at 9 AM in the North MPR.  Our third through fifth grade students will perform that evening at 7 PM in the church Sanctuary.  We ask that they arrive at 6:40 in the undercroft of the church.  If you would like more information about dress attire please see Mrs. Everly's blog.  We look forward to celebrating this special time with you and your children.

Musical Offerings on the Second Floor
Beginning on Wednesday, December 4 we will end our chapel services with musical offerings provided by our third through fifth grade students. Any student who wishes to share a musical piece may sign up with Mrs. Jones. Students are welcome to sing or play an instrument, and all ability levels are welcome. We look forward to celebrating this special time of year and enjoying the musical offerings our students share.

Second Floor Family Christmas Tree
Students on the second floor are welcome to bring in an family picture to hang on our Christmas tree. Students will hang their ornaments at the end of chapel and will also be able to make a wish as they hang their ornament. We will begin sharing and hanging ornaments on Wednesday, December 4.

Second Grade Performance
On Friday, December 6 our second graders will share their musical talents with the guests at the St. Paul's Friday Guild Luncheon in Parish Hall. Thank you to Mr. Ronan and all of our second graders for providing the entertainment for this special church occasion.

Read for 2014
Third through fifth grade students will participate in the national initiative to welcome the New Year by reading for 2014 seconds (33 minutes and 34 seconds). They will gather in the second floor commons on Friday, December 6 and enjoy some good literature and then end the celebration with hot chocolate and cookies.

In Harmony Performances
We have a wonderful group of about sixty students who have been enthusiastically participating in our In Harmony choir rehearsals every Monday morning at 7:15! Under the direction of Tamara Everly and Maria Meli, these students are working hard to learn and perform numerous Christmas songs. They will share their talent and hard work with our school community at all school chapel on Friday, December 13. On Monday, December 16, the students will sing at two divisional chapels and then perform at three local assisted living facilities. They will leave campus at 9:15 and return at 11:30 after singing at Bishop Spencer Place, Brighton Gardens, and Clarridge Court. Much thanks to Tamara Everly and Maria Meli for providing these wonderful opportunity for our students. If your child elected not to participate this fall, he or she is welcome to join In Harmony in January when our new Spring choir will begin.
