will participate in field day activities on Tuesday, May 20th from 9-11. Parents are
invited to join their children for some fun and games on the field from

Last Day of School Field Trips
Our entire Lower School will celebrate a successful school year by participating in off campus field trips during the last day of school. Our first and second grade students will go skating at Winwood Skate Center from 12-1:30. These students will leave St. Paul's at 11:20 and return at 2. They'll eat lunch before the trip and should bring a snack to eat when they return to school since they will have eaten lunch so early. Students should also be sure to wear or bring appropriate socks.
Our third through fifth grade students will be walking to South Moreland Park where they will have a picnic lunch and some time to play outside. The plan is for these students to leave the school at 11:30 and return at 2. If your child is in third through fifth grade and did not pre-order a sack lunch from the school cafeteria he or she should bring a lunch from home that day.
Summer Reading
As teachers we recognize the importance of daily reading for emergent readers and students who are still growing as readers. Therefore, we ask all Lower School students to participate in our summer reading program. Your child will receive a summer reading calendar and should record what he or she reads each day throughout the summer. These will be due in August when students return to school. In addition to recording the title of what was read, we also ask that students record either the amount of time they read that day or the number of pages. Thank you in advance for helping remind your students of this important assignment and making sure they follow through reading at least three days a week. Research shows that readers become better readers by actively practicing their reading and by enjoying quality, engaging material that is at an appropriate reading level. In addition to the reading calendar, students who will be entering third through fifth grade are asked to read an assigned novel. Teachers will be discussing this with students this week. An electronic copy of the reading calendar as well as a summary of the summer reading program and recommended books will soon be available on the SPEDS website.
Thanks to all of the parents who joined us for
Technology and Your Child on Tuesday, May 6. Drs. Kevin and Natasha
Burgert shared a plethora of resources and ways that we can help protect
our children while they utilize technology. Some of the big take aways
that all parents should know about include:
- Limiting Recreational Tech Time to 2 Hours or Less Per Day
- Not Allowing Any Technology at Dinner or In Children's Bedrooms
- Monitoring Content of Shows, Movies, Games, Apps, Etc. Using Common Sense Media.com
- Setting Parental Controls on Phones, iPads, Etc.
- Deleting Safari and Installing MOBICIP Which Is a Safe Browser With Parental Monitoring Tools and Reports
Stay tuned to the Community Learning Center section of the
St. Paul's website to see the recorded presentation. It is well worth
the time!
