Dear Parents of Lower School Students,
We have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you and your
children this past week. We could not
have asked for a better start to the school year! The students are enthusiastic, engaged, and
ready for a spectacular school year, and we can’t thank you enough for all
you’ve done to help make this a smooth transition.
We are looking forward to visiting with you on Thursday,
September 5 at 6 P.M. for Lower School Curriculum Night. We’ll gather in the foyer area of the south
building and disperse to classrooms and commons areas at 6 P.M. for grade level
presentations. Childcare is available
for a small fee for those families interested.
The evening will wrap up around approximately 7:15. Thanks in advance for joining us for this
important evening.
Since we have two weeks before Lower School Curriculum Night,
we want to share a few pieces of information with you before then to ensure
that you are receiving class blog updates and other important information. Please be sure to visit the blog for your
child’s grade level. Teachers update blogs
weekly and try to share all of the wonderful learning that is taking place as
well as provide dates about upcoming events.
Once you visit the blog you have an option to select “Follow” and
provide your email so that you receive an email each time the blog is updated. If you decide to take advantage of this
option, please remember that you will need to select “Follow” for each blog from
which you wish to receive updates. For
example, you may want to follow the grade level, Lower School Division Blog,
and Liz’s Monday Morning Memo Blog. Teachers
have also posted our Lower School Behavior Plan on their blogs. This is an initiative we undertook last year
in order to ensure consistency across our division. Teachers introduced it to students today
during school and students will be bringing home a hard copy of the plan this
evening. We are asking that you read
through it and discuss it with your child, especially the last page which we
are asking him/her to sign and return to school before next Thursday, August
29. Students have demonstrated excellent
use of their St. Paul’s Life Skills and exemplary behavior this first week,
but we wanted to share our discipline philosophy and policy with you prior to
the third week of school.
Thanks again for all you’ve done to help your children
transition back into the school year! We
are thrilled to have the students back and look forward to working with you
this year! If you have any questions
before Curriculum Night, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher or
me. I can be reached at ljones@speds.org or at 816.268.6571.
Sincerely,
Lisa Jones
